New Jersey: Falun Dafa Welcomed at Asbury Park, a Popular Town By the Sea
(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners from New Jersey demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises to local residents and many tourists in Asbury Park, a famous tourist seaside town on the New Jersey Shore, on August 19, 2023. They introduced the beauty of Falun Dafa to people and also raised awareness of the persecution of practitioners in China. The beach in Asbury Park was named one of the best beaches in the world by Money magazine and one of the best beaches in the United States by Travel + Leisure in 2022. Asbury Park also hosts large-scale music festivals and art festivals every summer, attracting a lot of tourists to come for vacation and entertainment. Practitioners, in yellow T-shirts with “Falun Dafa is Good” printed on them demonstrated Falun Dafa’s five sets of exercises in the most lively area of the seaside pedestrian street. The peaceful and soothing scene of practitioners doing the exercises attracted the attention of many tourists. People turned their heads to watch as they passed by practitioners doing the exercises, and many stopped to learn more about Falun Dafa. Some asked to learn the exercises, and some simply began to imitate practitioners’ movements from the boardwalk. “This is Really a Beautiful Practice, Very Peaceful” Julie, who is engaged in physical and mental health work, said that she had seen practitioners doing the exercises here on weekends before, but so many practitioners were doing the exercises here today, and their peaceful scene strongly attracted her. She stopped and began to learn the exercises from practitioners. Julie said, “This is really a beautiful exercise, very peaceful. I admire their peace and endurance. I also want to learn the practice.” Terry, a retired pastor from Upstate New York, saw practitioners doing the exercises. He had a long conversation with a practitioner. He stopped to read the materials and hoped to learn more about Falun Dafa. Terry said, “I’ve heard that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecutes Falun Dafa, and I know that the CCP is not good, but I didn’t know much about Falun Dafa. Today I saw practitioners doing the exercises. I am very happy to learn from practitioners what Falun Dafa really is.” Kathy, a psychological counselor at a special education school, and Lisa, a special rehabilitation technician, were attracted by the scene of practitioners doing the exercises. They started to learn how to meditate from practitioners and began to experience the practice right on the spot. Kathy said, “I felt very good when I meditated, and my mind was empty. I have a lot of stress from my work, and this practice is exactly what we need.” Lisa said, “The teaching of all Falun Dafa exercises is free, which is great. I might start by reading Falun Dafa books first.” Printing Business Owner, “The Energy Field of Falun Dafa is Very Strong and Is Good for Body and Mind” Rich Morre, the owner of a printing business, and his wife Diane saw practitioners doing the exercises from a distance, and they were drawn over. They approached practitioners to learn more about Falun Dafa and inquire about how to learn the exercises. Mr. Morre said, “I have seen qigong and meditation on TV before. It is great to see it with my own eyes today. Someone told us that the energy field of this practice is very strong and is good for the body and mind. This is exactly what we need.”
