Congressman Payne said: He will attend the anti-persecution rally every year until the persecution ends.
More than 6,000 Falun Gong practitioners from all over the world held a rally on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C., calling for an end to the 19-year persecution of Falun Gong in China. U.S. lawmakers, human rights activists, and representatives from non-governmental organizations also took part in the rally and expressed their support for Falun Gong's peaceful resistance to the persecution. The speakers condemned the Chinese regime's state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting from prisoners of conscience in China, praised the universal values of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance (Falun Gong's core principles) and called upon the public to recognize the evil nature of the Communist Party. Practitioners held banners calling for an end to the persecution and for awareness about the dangers of communism: “Communism’s Ultimate Goal: Destroy the Human Race,” “The Evil Specter of Communism Is Ruling Our World,” “Humanity’s Only Hope Is to Return to Tradition,” and “Humanity’s Only Hope Is to Improve Morality.” Congressman Donald Payne Jr. from New Jersey also took part the rally and expressed his support to Falun Gong practitioners. He said:” Despite the Chinese Communist Party’s nineteen-year attempt to eliminate Falun Gong, millions of people in China continue to practice their religion. Falun Gong is a peaceful practice, belonging to the Buddhist school and embraced by millions of people who seek positivity and elevated moral character through exercise and meditation. For decades, Chinese authorities have entered public and private spaces — schools, households, villages, and businesses — in order to “transform” Falun Gong practitioners through forced religious conversion. Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners continue to be held in prisons, detention centers, and forced labor camps, under deplorable conditions, many simply for their beliefs. Those held captive are tortured and beaten multiple times a day. Some are sexually abused. Not only that, Chinese authorities have admitted that in the past, organs were sourced from executed prisoners and from Falun Gong followers who had been held captive. This kind of persecution and torment, against a peaceful people, must stop.” At end of his speech he promised that he will attend the anti-persecution rally every year until the persecution ends. Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen from Florida, Congressman Dana Rohrabacher from Los Angeles, Congressman Ted Poe from Texas and Congressman Keith Rothfus from Pennsylvania also addressed at the rally.
